Michael S. Farber
Founding Partner
Michael is a founding partner of Farber Schneider Ferrari LLP. His practice involves thorny, complex commercial transactional and litigation issues. His subject matter experience ranges from real estate operations, owners and developers to construction companies, contractors and design professionals in property damages, to fashion, apparel, design and other intellectual property licensing, and hospitality and restaurateur representation, and parties to complex landlord-tenant litigation. He regularly manages the legal concerns of various privately held or family-owned corporations with valuable real estate holdings. He acts as outside general counsels for brands, creative directors, studio artists and designers.
Michael served as General Counsel to the owner-operator of over 200 mixed-use Manhattan properties, acting as personal counsel to that company's principals. Earlier, Michael structured the in-house legal department for the New York office of Omni, a large national property developer focused on the acquisition, rehabilitation, construction and management of revitalized affordable housing with major New York City holdings.
Michael was formerly affiliated with an Am-Law 100 firm, serving on the litigation team to manage discovery in the landmark, billion-dollar toxic tort litigation arising out of the September 11th, 2001 first-responder suits.
During law school, Michael completed the U.S. Attorney's Office rigorous clinical coursework (Eastern District of New York), working closely with Federal prosecutors on major RICO, narcotic and wire fraud prosecutions. Also while in law school, Michael ran and managed his own apparel business, while managing musical and studio artists, content creators and designers.
As an experienced courtroom litigator, Michael is an empath who balances a tactical approach to critical thinking with a high emotional quotient, partially inspired by stoicism and the writings of Sun-Tzu. Michael particularly enjoys courtroom trial practice and jury selection, balancing conscientious, aggressive representation with sound business judgment.
Michael's manner of client service is based on the notion that reputation is the cornerstone of success, and that an advocate's degree of care is reflected in their work product. He was raised in Queens, New York, and graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, SUNY at Buffalo (B.A., Psychology), and Brooklyn Law School.
